How the Four-Shaft Whole-Pipe System Works

The machine is designed around the feed envelope first: 2 m pipe diameter, 6 m full length, wall thickness and mass per pipe.

1

Load the Whole Pipe

A complete pipe up to 6 m long is placed in the horizontal trough. The long chamber removes the need for a separate pre-cutting station.

2

Hydraulic Pusher Controls Contact

A 7,500 mm hydraulic stroke advances the pipe into the cutting zone. Independently supported cylinders reduce deflection under uneven pipe loading.

3

Four Shafts Grip the Full Section

Four solid rotors rotate in an intermeshing layout. Each shaft has its own 75 kW drive so power is delivered directly without one shared transmission carrying the whole load.

4

Transfer to Secondary Size Reduction

Primary-shredded pipe is discharged by belt to the matched vertical crusher. Final particle size is confirmed from the downstream screen and recycling process.

Why This Is a Separate Machine Class

This configuration is selected for oversized feed geometry and whole-pipe handling—not simply because it has a larger motor.

2 m Pipe Diameter Without Pre-Cutting

The long horizontal feed accepts complete 6 m pipe sections, reducing crane handling, saw cutting and repeated manual loading.

Four Independently Driven Solid Shafts

Independent drives distribute the load across four cutting shafts and avoid the losses and single transmission path of a shared-drive arrangement.

More Complete Cross-Section Gripping

The intermeshing shaft layout grips large hollow sections from multiple directions, reducing rolling and improving tearing through thick or corrugated walls.

PLC-Controlled Line Operation

Automatic sequencing coordinates the pusher, four shaft drives, belt conveyor and downstream crusher, with manual emergency control retained for service and recovery.

Machine Layout and Infeed-System Detail

Use the complete-line view to plan floor space and the side view to assess whole-pipe loading, hydraulic support and service access.

Complete Horizontal Whole-Pipe Line

The reference project combines the long-trough shredder, discharge conveyor and vertical crusher into one automated reduction line.

  • Reference total layout length: approximately 19,800 mm
  • 7,500 mm hydraulic pusher stroke for 6 m pipe feed
  • Belt transfer to a 110 kW vertical crusher

Long-Trough Infeed and Hydraulic Support

The side view shows the full-length horizontal trough, independently supported hydraulic cylinders, pusher structure, hydraulic power pack and control cabinet.

  • 7,500 mm pusher stroke provides travel margin for a 6 m pipe
  • Independent cylinder support helps limit deflection under uneven loads
  • Hydraulic and electrical systems remain accessible for service

Four-Shaft Large-Diameter Pipe Shredder in Action

Watch the four solid rotors tear and shred whole large-diameter plastic pipes up to 2,000 mm OD with horizontal hydraulic pusher feeding.

Best-Fit Feedstock

Choose this machine when the pipe envelope or handling method exceeds a standard horizontal single-shaft configuration.

  • Large HDPE Pressure Pipe

Municipal water, gas, mining and industrial HDPE pipes with large OD and heavy wall sections.

  • Double-Wall Corrugated Pipe

Large drainage, sewer and culvert pipes whose hollow profile is difficult to grip with a single cutting line.

  • PE, PP, PVC and PPR Pipe

Oversized plastic pipes and profiles where full-length loading is preferred over manual pre-cutting.

  • Sleeving and Protective Conduit

Complete 6 m sleeve pipe and heavy protective conduit from production rejects or replacement projects.

Horizontal HDPE Pipe Shredder Technical Parameters

Range values for planning. Final configuration is confirmed after reviewing pipe OD, wall thickness, material, and required downstream process.

Values above are planning ranges. Request a technical proposal with your pipe OD, wall thickness, material grade, and throughput requirement for project-specific data.

Data Required Before We Confirm the Machine

A 2,000 mm diameter alone is not enough. Send the worst-case pipe so the drive, pusher and downstream crusher can be approved as one system.

  1. Pipe Envelope and Weight

Provide minimum and maximum OD, maximum length, wall thickness, pipe weight and whether pipes arrive individually or nested.

  2. Polymer and Contamination

Identify HDPE, PE, PP, PVC or PPR and disclose metal inserts, soil, concrete, water, fittings and other contamination.

  3. Required Output and Downstream Process

State whether the line feeds a crusher, washing line, granulator or storage, and the required final particle-size range.

  4. Site Layout and Utilities

Share available line length, loading method, foundation, voltage/frequency, conveyor direction and maintenance access.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can it shred a complete 6 m pipe without pre-cutting?

Yes. The reference configuration uses a long horizontal trough and a 7,500 mm hydraulic pusher stroke for complete pipes up to 6 m long.

Is 2,000 mm the pipe diameter or the feed-opening width?

It is the reference maximum pipe outside diameter. Final approval still requires wall thickness, pipe weight and a loading drawing.

Why use four shafts instead of one or two?

The four intermeshing shafts grip a very large hollow pipe from multiple directions. Each shaft is driven independently so load is distributed across four drive paths.

What output size does the machine produce?

The shredder performs primary tearing. The proposal includes a downstream vertical crusher, so final size must be confirmed from its screen and your next process. No unsupported particle size is assumed.

Is the 2,000 kg/h capacity guaranteed for every pipe?

No nominal capacity should be treated as universal. Throughput depends on polymer, OD, wall thickness, pipe weight, contamination and required output. A sample test or detailed feed schedule is used for final confirmation.

When should I choose the standard single-shaft pipe shredder instead?

Choose the single-shaft range when pipe diameter fits the standard feed envelope and a screen-controlled primary output is the priority. Choose the four-shaft system for the 2 m whole-pipe envelope and multi-directional gripping.

Need to Process a 2 m Diameter Pipe?
