Direct Infeed Without Pre-Cutting
Whole HDPE pipes and bundles are loaded directly into the horizontal feed hopper. The hydraulic pusher ram feeds the material steadily into the cutting rotor, eliminating manual pre-cutting labor.
Industrial Shredders
Process bulky post-consumer HDPE pipes, thick-walled bundles, and PE production scrap without a pre-cutting bottleneck. The horizontal single-shaft design with hydraulic pusher ram handles direct infeed of large pipes and delivers screen-controlled output ready for washing, granulation, or pelletizing.

The machine is designed around the material — large-diameter pipes, varied wall thickness, and post-consumer contamination are all built into the sizing logic.
Whole HDPE pipes and bundles are loaded directly into the horizontal feed hopper. The hydraulic pusher ram feeds the material steadily into the cutting rotor, eliminating manual pre-cutting labor.
The low-speed, high-torque single shaft tears through thick-walled HDPE pipe with hardened steel blades. The slow rotor speed reduces dust, noise, and heat compared to high-speed granulators.
A bottom screen controls the output size. Typical screens are 50–120 mm for primary shredding to feed a granulator or washing line. Screen size is selected based on downstream requirements.
Shredded pipe regrind is conveyed by blower or belt to the next stage — crusher, washing line, or storage — with far more stable handling than whole pipe lengths.
Large OD HDPE pipes (110–1200 mm and above) and thick-walled PE bundles cannot be fed into vertical crushers or standard granulators. The horizontal hopper and long feed chamber accommodate the real feedstock.
Round pipes tend to roll and bridge in top-feed machines. The hydraulic ram pusher forces material into the cutting zone consistently — no bridging, no manual intervention.
At 15–40 RPM, the shredder produces chunky regrind with minimal fines — better for downstream washing efficiency and pelletizer feeding stability than high-speed alternatives.
The discharge can be configured for blower conveying, belt conveying, or direct gravity feed to a crusher stage — making this a practical first-stage addition to any HDPE pipe recycling line.
Large-diameter HDPE pipes are too bulky to feed into granulators or vertical crushers.
The horizontal feed hopper and long cutting chamber are sized for full-length HDPE pipe, including municipal, agricultural, and gas-pressure pipe up to and beyond 1200 mm OD.
Round pipes bounce and bridge in standard top-feed size reduction equipment.
The hydraulic pusher ram pushes material into the rotor steadily. No manual feed assistance is needed even with round, smooth-surfaced pipe.
High-speed granulators generate excessive fines and heat when processing thick HDPE wall sections.
The low-speed single-shaft design (15–40 RPM) produces chunky primary regrind with low fines ratio, which is better for cleaning efficiency and melt quality downstream.
Throughput drops when pipe OD or wall thickness varies across batches.
Rumtoo sizes the model around the maximum pipe OD and wall thickness in the batch, not an average — so throughput stays predictable across variable feedstock.

Use this reference to evaluate pipe OD, wall thickness, and bundle configuration before confirming the shredder model and hopper width.
Coarse regrind from the shredder is ready for a crusher, washing line, or bulk storage. Screen size determines the output window.

|---|---|---|
| HPS-HDPE-500 | 400–600 kg/h | Single shaft | 30 kW | Feed opening 900 × 600 mm | Rotor 500 mm | Screen 50–80 mm |
| HPS-HDPE-1000 | 800–1200 kg/h | Single shaft | 55 kW | Feed opening 1200 × 800 mm | Rotor 700 mm | Screen 50–80 mm |
| HPS-HDPE-1500 | 1200–1800 kg/h | Single shaft | 90 kW | Feed opening 1500 × 1000 mm | Rotor 900 mm | Screen 60–100 mm |

Use these models for planning. Final sizing is confirmed by pipe OD, wall thickness, material grade, and downstream process requirements.
These inputs define the machine configuration. Generic requests ("a 90 kW pipe shredder") lead to undersized or oversized machines.
Provide the OD range (minimum and maximum diameter), typical wall thickness, and the maximum pipe length that will be fed. These three dimensions determine hopper size, rotor width, and motor power.
Specify HDPE80, HDPE100, or mixed PE/PP, plus contamination type (soil, fittings, metal inserts, concrete, liner material). Contamination profile affects knife specification and maintenance intervals.
Confirm the required shred size (typically 50–120 mm for primary shredding to a crusher or washing line). If output goes direct to pelletizer, specify the required granule feed window.
State the required kg/h and whether feeding is manual, by excavator bucket, crane, or conveyor. Feeding method affects hopper design, not just motor sizing.
| Criteria | Standard Granulator / Vertical Crusher | Rumtoo Horizontal HDPE Pipe Shredder |
|---|---|---|
| Feed Capability | Limited to pre-cut short lengths; large OD pipes cannot be fed | Direct infeed of whole HDPE pipe up to 1200+ mm OD and full length |
| Bridging & Feeding | Round pipes bounce and bridge; operator intervention needed | Hydraulic pusher ram eliminates bridging on round, smooth-surface pipe |
| Output Quality | High fines ratio and heat from high-speed cutting of thick walls | Low-speed high-torque produces chunky regrind with low fines ratio |
| Selection Logic | Chosen by motor kW only | Chosen by pipe OD, wall thickness, contamination, and downstream process |
Standard models handle up to 1000–1200 mm OD. Larger custom configurations are available for oversized pipes. Send your pipe OD, wall thickness, and length for a precise model recommendation.
No. The horizontal design with hydraulic pusher ram is built to accept full-length pipes directly. Pre-cutting is not required and would reduce the main advantage of this machine.
Output size is controlled by the bottom screen. For primary shredding before a crusher or washing line, typical screens are 50–120 mm. The screen is selected based on your downstream process.
Pipes with soil and minor contamination are handled routinely. Metal inserts and concrete should be removed upstream since they cause knife damage. A metal detector upstream is recommended for heavily contaminated post-consumer pipe.
Send pipe OD range, wall thickness, material grade (HDPE80/HDPE100/mixed PE), contamination type, required kg/h, downstream process, and feeding method. Photos or video of the actual feedstock are very helpful.
Send your pipe dimensions, material grade, contamination profile, and throughput target. Rumtoo will recommend the right model and line configuration.
